With spring always come a new energy level for me, and while I would of course rather be quilting, this is a wake up time for the farm. Our whole world goes into high speed for several months to come. The days are of course more filled with daylight, which means more hours to work. And if you think having a garden is work, try farming a thousand acres! So everyone get ready to eat your veggies, peas, corn, and green beans hopefully will abound. Dan and I recently took a day trip to Warrington, Oregon to pick up our silage bags, they are 8 feet square and a 150 feet long, which we fill three of them to feed our cows during the winter. It was nice to get away (even if only for a few hours) and we saw some beautiful scenery.

We also have the chicken house full of new babies of all varieties. It is funny to go to the Farm Store and be asked what kind of chicken I want. Well, my answer is always "pretty, colorful ones". These chickens are only required to entertain me, eat a bug now and then, and provide an occasional egg. But baby chicks are a sure sign of spring here on the farm as well as plowed fields.

Enough farming.... my quilting is exploding as well. When you work with Laurie, you get so enthused about everything that you come home with way too many projects. But, I am at a standstill with one of the paper piecing projects until a new line of fabric shows up, and so what is the answer to that situation, well you start two more project right? I so love the English paper piecing because I can take it with me, watch TV, be talking on the phone all the while getting something done. So if you like one project you may as well have two going at the same time so that you don't get bored right?
Here is the beginnings of one of them that is hopefully going to grow daily. We have so much new fabric coming in the shop these days that one can barely keep up, but I am going to give it a whirl. Lots of new batiks and flannels this week, and more to come!

Oh, and just one more story to end today's blather....I want you all to meet Bear. Bear is a wonderful cat that as a kitten was thrown out of a car window into the road, left to him own abilities. Fortunately, my daughter Janelle found him and brought him to live here on the farm. Our thought was that he would enjoy the barn, but Bear had other ideas as he adopted us and moved on into the house. He is a truly beautiful cat who certainly deserved better than the start that he was given. Please spay and neuter your animals, treat them with the respect they deserve as they give unconditional love.
Happy spring and happy quilting.....
